Your First Coaching Session – What to Expect

As an entrepreneur, you know that time is money. That's why before you invest your time and energy in coaching, you want to know exactly what to expect.

Deep Understanding of Your Situation

During the first session, we'll talk about where you are now in your business and life.

  • What challenges are really occupying you right now
  • What's working in your business and what isn't
  • Where you feel frustration or stagnation
  • What you've already tried and why it didn't work
  • What your strengths and resources are

I won't judge you or tell you what you should have done differently. I'll ask questions that help you see the fuller picture of your situation yourself.

Clarifying What You Really Want

Many entrepreneurs are so absorbed in current affairs that they forget to ask themselves: "What do I actually want?"

During the first session, I'll help you answer questions like:

  • Where do you really want to go with your business?
  • What does success look like in your understanding?
  • What's truly important to you – beyond money?
  • What kind of life do you want to build through your business?
  • What would need to change for you to feel you're going in the right direction?

Often just asking these questions brings valuable discoveries. Clients tell me: "No one ever asked me that" or "I didn't realize this was so important to me."

Understanding What Coaching Is (and Isn't)

Coaching is not consulting – I won't give you ready-made solutions or business strategies.

Coaching is not therapy – we won't delve into your past or heal traumas.

Coaching is not mentoring – I won't tell you how I would do it in your place.

Coaching is a partnership in which:

  • You are the expert on your business and life
  • I am the expert at asking questions that open new perspectives
  • Together we discover your own answers and solutions
  • You make decisions and take action – I support you in this

During the first session, I'll explain exactly how this works and what you can expect.

First "Aha Moments"

You don't have to wait until the end of the coaching program to see value. Already during the first introductory session, the first breakthroughs often appear:

  • You'll see your situation from a new perspective
  • You'll notice patterns you didn't see before
  • You'll understand what's really behind your challenges
  • You'll feel relief that someone truly understands you
  • You'll see possibilities you hadn't considered before

One of my clients said after the first session: "We talked about my business for 45 minutes and suddenly I saw that the problem isn't where I thought it was. That changed everything."

Assessing Whether We're a Good Fit

The first session isn't just an opportunity for me to get to know you – it's primarily your chance to assess whether you want to work with me.

You'll be able to check:

  • Whether you feel comfortable in my presence
  • Whether my working style resonates with you
  • Whether you feel I truly listen to and understand you
  • Whether you see value in what I do
  • Whether you can imagine working together over a longer period

Chemistry between coach and client is crucial. If it's not there – that's okay. Better to know right away.

Concrete Information About Our Collaboration

As an entrepreneur, you value clarity and specifics. That's why during the first session we'll discuss all practical aspects:

  • How often we meet: Usually once a week or every two weeks, depending on your needs
  • Session duration: Typically 60-90 minutes
  • Meeting format: Online (convenient, no travel time) or in-person
  • Length of collaboration: Usually 3-6 months, but it depends on your goals
  • Investment: Transparent packages and payment terms
  • Guidelines: Punctuality, preparation, openness, confidentiality

Everything will be clear and transparent – no surprises.

Plan for First Steps

If after the first session you decide you want to continue working together, we'll establish:

  • What we'll focus on in the first sessions
  • Which areas are priorities for you
  • What our collaboration will look like
  • What you can do right now to move forward

You won't have to make a decision on the spot. I'll give you time to think about whether this is what you need.

What You WON'T Find in the First Session

To be fully transparent, I'll also tell you what you won't get:

  • Ready-made solutions: I won't tell you what to do – I'll help you discover your own answers
  • A magic wand: Coaching requires your commitment and work
  • Pressure to decide: I won't persuade or convince you – it's your decision
  • Judgment: I'm not here to tell you what you're doing wrong
  • Guaranteed success: I'll be honest: results depend on you

How to Prepare for Your First Session?

You don't need to prepare extensively, but if you want to maximize this time, you can:

  • Think about what's really occupying you now in business and life
  • Consider what you'd like more of in your life, and what less
  • Prepare questions you want to ask me
  • Reserve a quiet place where no one will disturb you
  • Come with an open mind and willingness to be honest
